Outstanding Master Gardener
This annual award given at the December social recognizes a Master Gardener who has provided outstanding and exemplary service that has benefited the Lafayette Parish Master Gardener Association program and the LSU Ag Center Master Gardener Program.
Members are nominated by their peers who recognize their contributions should be above and beyond those associated with various leadership positions.
Criteria used to select the Outstanding Master Gardener of the year will include the following:
• Be an active member of LPMGA (as outlined in the Volunteer Handbook)
• Possess positive attributes such as dependability, enthusiasm, and cooperative spirit
• Demonstrate leadership skills that have strengthened the LPMG program
• Make unselfish contributions that have benefited the LPMG program
An Outstanding Master Gardener award will be presented annually to a Lafayette Parish Master
Gardener for her/his contribution to the Master Gardener program. In September, the Outstanding
Master Gardener (OMG) committee, comprised of three of the most recent past presidents (with the
Immediate Past President acting as chair), the Member-at-Large, and a volunteer from the general
membership, will seek nominations from the general membership. Nominations are due October 1st.
The OMG committee, whose decision is final, will select the Outstanding Master Gardener from
among the nominees. At the December social, nominees will be announced along with the awardee.
The awardee will speak briefly about what it means to be a Master Gardener. See website section
