Height: 6 feet

Light: Dappled light to part shade

Bloom: Small, white, forming at leaf axils. Followed by "dried strawberry" looking fruit which opens to red-orange pea sized seeds.

Bloom Time: Early Spring, fruiting in Mid Summer.

Growth Habit: Upright, airly, deciduous with slender round stems. Colonizes slowly.

Comments: A rare find! Seeds provide fats and sugars for birds. Deer and rabbits will eat foliage. All parts toxic to humans. Provides fall color of reddish orange before leaves drop. Also popularly called Hearts-A-Bursting and other colorful common names.
